october 31, ondisplay collaboration

her name is Tasha.
she's a german shepard cross, i found her in the humane society on friday night and i fell in love with her. i brought her home today, and now she is here in my room, panting and wandering.
she loves to run.
fortunately, i love to run too.
we ran together today and it was amazing.
there's not an awful lot i can say about her, because i've only had her for a few hours. but there's a lot that i feel. i was listening to Miles Davis Love Songs, she was curled up on the floor, her head on her paws, quiet. she seems to like jazz, fortunately, i love jazz.
she pushes her head into my legs when she wants me to pet her tummy, she loves to be brushed, she doesn't bark, she's housetrained.
she's three years old, and has been abandoned at least twice in her life, her previous owners kept her only two months before deciding that a dog that can't hold its bladder for at least 8 hours while they work is not a dog worth keeping (idiots.)
i imagine her running along in a wide open field, her ears high and pointed, her tail waving happily.
i can't give you a picture of her, but this is where i imagine her...

when she looks at me, even though she doesn't know me yet, or trust me completely, she melts me.
when we run, we are perfectly matched speed-wise, and though she has more endurance, i will eventually catch up.
when she curls up under my desk with her paws on my toes and her tail brushing gently against my wall, it's perfect.
i never thought i'd own a dog, but now that i do, i'm thrilled.
i wish i could take her to some old, abandoned castle. we'd sit in a drafty, dimly lit room and listen to Miles Davis... and then we'd go for a long, long run.
and it would be good.
